Calorie deficits and slowing metabolism Topic

I’ve heard that a feed diet can help with your bodies reaction to metabolism efficiency during calorie deficits. This means that you eat at a calorie deficit for 5 days and then have 2 “feed” days where you eat your maintenance calories for your weight. This 48 hour period of eating enough to maintain, instead of losing, allows your metabolism to increase. Has anyone tried and had success with this?

Hi U1193733872-
I think you are referring to an eating pattern called intermittent fasting or time-restricted eating. Yes, this can help with weight loss,,,,,,, if this type of eating plan fits into your lifestyle, and preferences AND you are able to meet your nutrient needs. Hope this helps~ Joanna (MyNetDiary Dietitian)

Hi , is this the same as what they call a cheat day?

Pretty sure they’re referring to a cheat day(s) and not intermittent fasting.

Eating one’s maintenance calories for one or two days to break the bodies cycle has helped some people that I’ve heard move the scale along if it’s stuck. However, I wouldn’t recommend it because it plants a seed in your mind that in the end cause you to kiss your weight loss plans away.

Trust me, I’ve be maintaining my 70+ weight loss since 2009. I played the games and it caused binge eating, as well as poor eating habits, which is why you see me here. 🙃 I have to lose the 12 pounds I gained the last couple of years. Now I follow a plant based eating routine completely a game changer for me. Lost all my weight a still dropping.

Stick to eating Whole Foods plant based nutrition less or no processed foods. You’ll find after sometime it makes the whole body happy and even that voice in your head.
