No weight loss - on verge of giving up Topic

Hi. I've calorie counted before and always got down to 140lbs which I'm happy with but creep back up over time. The other 2 times I've done this I've done well. This time I'm getting no where. I'm doing well I think in terms of what I'm eating. I exercise well 3 days a week but work 12 hour days often on the other days so exercise is difficult on those days but my job has be on my feet all day.

I seem to not be losing like I did before. My weight is stuck at 158lbs and I'm on the verge of giving up and eating what I want! I've excluded meat from my diet recently but am eating fish and trying to make sure I'm having enough protein.Think I'm doing ok! Its just soul destroying to think 'I've had a good week!' and still be at 158lbs.

The GP has checked my thyroid for something unrelated in the last 2 years and it was normal. Any ideas? I'm either going to give up or start starving myself, neither of which are desirable really!

Thanks

Hello U6004938,

Thanks for writing.

Hang in there! Do not become obsessed with the number on the scale.
Ask yourself, how is your energy level? How are your clothes fitting? Have you changed your food and exercise habits recently? What other positive changes have you made in your life?

Also, read this article for others tips and encouragement.

Basically, do not give up and do not starve yourself.

Overtime, you will see changes.

Are you getting 6-8 hours of sleep?

Hi, I sympathise with U6004938 as I have only been on my weight loss and fitness program for 3 weeks and I'm stuck at 150.8 pounds. I have lost nearly 6 pounds from my start weight but it seems to have stopped. I lost 2 pounds both of the first weeks then only half a pound last week which was annoying but still a loss so hoped for better this week. But I haven't lost anything so really getting me down. I work out twice at the gym a week for an hour both cardio and weights, I also go swimming 1 evening a week so the exercise is every other day. My calories per day started at 1380 and are now 1280 after a month as I put them down slightly every week calculated under the Net diary range for my weight loss. Is this too low??? What is going on?? any ideas why I have stopped losing? anything would be appreciated.

Thanks

My trainer and this lady who wrote a book years ago said that it's good to have a cheat day because it boost your metabolism and will help you lose weight. Maybeyou need to have a once a week cheat day or meal. Have you tried that?

Hi Folks, looks like my replies I wrote on the web forum are not showing up in the iPhone forum area. You can login to the web forum to see my replies until Support integrates the app and web area.

Hi Everyone - please start posting in the Ask a Dietiitan forum topic area vs. in the Common Forum. Otherwise, we will have 2 forum threads going which is confusing. Support is going to archive the Ask a Dietitian thread in the common forum so that there is only area to post questions to me.

Thanks,
