NSV'S - NON SCALE VICTORIES Topic

Hi all! I thought I'd start this thread where you can post your "non scale victories". Sometimes it's frustrating when the scale doesn't move -- or moves in the wrong direction for that matter. You could be losing inches and not knowing it so lets use this thread to post your NON scale victories. I have two:

- I have jeans that I previously had to do the "jump, shake, shimmy" to get into and they were a bit tight in the waist. I put them on earlier this week and not only did I not have to do my dance but they were big in the waist!

- I have another pair of jeans that I was wearing yesterday and I pulled them off and was folding them when I noticed I pulled them off without unzipping or unbuttoning them. I haven't done THAT in ages!
(And both pair of jeans had just been washed in hot water, dried in a hot drier this week and every woman knows what THAT does to their jeans!).

So go ahead and brag about your NSV! It can be quite motivating to yourself and others.

Hey Jennie

I bought a coat before Christmas and I tried it on so I knew it was too small. There was a good 3-4 inches between the edges of the coat.

A couple of weeks ago we had really bad weather and I don't know what made me try to fasten it, but fasten it I did, and with no pulling at the buttons. Also, my new jeans definitely need a belt now.

Non scale victories are a sure-fire confidence booster.

It absolutely is a confidence booster!! Way to go! :)

Blood sugar progress! ?? I have type II diabetes and started with MyNetDiary a little over a month ago. The first week, 87% of my mg/dL blood sugars readings were above target range, most by 30 points higher or so, with an average level of 162; this past week, only 20% were above target, most by less than 10 points higher. This week's average blood sugar was 136!

Wow! ClevelandDRE, that is awesome with the BG changes. That must make you feel great! Congrats.

Ya'll are doing so great!! This morning I went to a birthday brunch for a friend. Lots of great stuff to order and everyone else opted for French toast, mimosas and dessert. I ordered a cheese and spinach omelette and two veggie sides and coffee. But the real victory was that I ate about half of what was already a reasonable sized portion and then stopped! I was also distracting myself by thrift window shopping online (one of my great binge distractions as long as it doesn't turn into binge shopping). And before I knew it the brunch was over and the server was boxing up my uneaten food. I call that a NSV, especially since I struggle the most with binge and compulsive eating especially in social situations. Thanks everyone for the motivation! Here's to losing weight for the last time!

@Justjennie I actually tried on some coats and things that I love but are a size 10 (I'm a 14 with huge shoulders) hoping that they'd fit today and still, nothing. They may actually not ever fit because of my bone structure but I won't know till I lose the weight! Your post was a big help. I hope to have your success some day!

Avangalane, your brunch choice was an excellent alternative to what the others were doing and it sounds like you were just fine with. Still enjoyed the company and socializing. I would definitely say that is a NSV!

Clothing size - that will come down over time. You will see that for yourself. The first thing you are likely to notice is how your pants fit around the waist, or perhaps your existing clothes start to fit just a little loose. That will feel pretty good.

Keep up the good work.

Looked in the mirror and saw a hint of abs. :) Seeing a bit more muscle when I flex too which means I'm whittling away the fat in my midsection. Weighed myself today and I'm down 3 pounds from where I was last week which makes a total of 6 pounds from the beginning of the year. :) 6 more pounds to go to reach my first goal!! :)

I want to clarify that I did NOT lose 3 pounds in a week. I meant from the beginning of the month.
