Workout and healthy eating friends? Topic

Hi!! I'm looking for some people to be friends through this app that are wanting to motivate each other, share recipes and food ideas and workout ideas!! Let me know and add me if you want to be! I'm looking at losing 17 pounds so I would like some people to have to talk to about my journey to keep me on the right track ?? the reason I am doing this is because I am a week into quitting smoking and so not want to gain weight because of it so I figured I should be monitoring what I put into my body since I've been snacking and eating like a crazy woman. Hope to talk to some of yous soon?? xo

I totally get it I quit smoking on May 2nd and I want to lose 25 pounds! Found out about this app today and got it and today was my first day of tracking calories on this :)

If you haven't done so already I suggest you purchase a digital food scale. They're not that expensive but they are really handy. Make sure you weigh everything that you put on your plate, and I mean EVERYTHING. You will be amazed at how small portions actually are. It truly is the only way to accurately determine how many calories you're eating.

Also, as for the munching after quitting smoking (I quit cold turkey over 20 years ago and I never gained weight), chew gum. I usually have gum on hand for those times when I'm not hungry but bored and I know I'm going to mindlessly munch. It really helps!!

I'm going to second Jennie, lol.

Gum became my new addiction when I quit smoking. There were mornings when I woke up with gum in my mouth because I forgot to spit it out, but it really helped. Sugarless gum would be the smart way to go! I like the Extra brand best.

You're going to be SO GLAD when you're a non-smoker.

A food scale is a bit of a pain in the buttinski when you start using it, but once you get the hang, it becomes second nature. It really is a BIG, big help. You'll find that the packages lie about calories once you begin weighing things! MND makes logging so easy that entering the grams is no big whup. I could log my entire day in less than five minutes.

Get one that weighs grams and if you can, get one that weighs heavy things. I've been through a few food scales and like the Oxo one best by far. It's not the cheapest, but it is the best and easiest.

Where can one buy a good scale? I have been measuring with a measuring cup ??

Weight watchers put out a really good digital one I wouldn't be without mine

Amazon, Wal-Mart (or most stores like it) - loads of places have scales that weigh in grams.

I got my first one at Ocean State Job Lots. The second one I ordered through Amazon. They're not that expensive. Make sure it has grams and ounces. The one I have has grams, ounces pounds and kilos. It should also have a tare button so lets say you're weighing several items you can zero out the scale so you can weigh the next item being added.

Measuring cups aren't accurate for determining portions and can be wildly inaccurate.
