Drinking and fluid Topic

Hey guys~

I don't know if any of you has that problem but when I drink something (alcohol or juice or milk) I drink it very fast. Nowadays I quit drinking alcoholic beverages yet I'm drinking at least 1 strawberry milk everyday and since I drink it very fast, I don't feel like it is enough or I get the taste. It may sound silly but do you have any suggestions that will make me drink it slower?

By fast, I mean for 200 ml, it's not even 15 seconds. If I try to stop in middle, maybe 40 sec but not a more than min ever! (Except tea, if it is warm, I also drink it fast but when it is hot, it takes time)

Thanks

Hi PetaPan, can you practice sipping your beverage? You can even use a stopwatch or kitchen timer to help. Sip, put milk down, then sip again.

Also, why not choose plain milk vs. strawberry milk? Plain milk has no added sugar whereas strawberry milk can be quite high in it.

Also, if you are super thirsty and that is part of what is driving your drinking speed, then it is time to focus on consuming more water too.

Hi Kathy Isacks
I drink strawberry as a present for myself since I stop eating deserts and drinking frozen/milkshake/other highly sugary things. That's why I don't want to stop drinking it but you're right. I should at least tried to lessen the number and change it into plain milk. I believe now that it is easy to find strawberry, I can even eat some along with a cup of milk.
I will try my best
Thanks
PetaPan

Strawberry milk as a replacement for higher kcal desserts is a great idea. Now I understand the context. The milk definitely gives you more protein, calcium, and riboflavin than milkshakes and ice cream yet still provides that sweet treat experience. I agree with you PetaPan, that choice as a healthier dessert makes sense. Yes, there is added sugar, but if you are counting that as a dessert food, you are fitting it in. And I like your idea of eventually moving towards fresh berries as the treat a good plan too.

Have you tried sipping through a straw. When drinking my protein shakes I use a thick straw as the shakes themselves are think and creamy. I also force myself to sip then put the shake down on the table for a short time.

Try drinking a glass of water before you drink the milk. Mid you aren't so thirsty, it will be easier to drink slowly and savor the milk. :)

If, not Mid. Demon iPad autocorrect! ;)

Frozen strawberries and a bit of honey might be a good way to go healthier. Plus, the cold aspect might make you drink slower.????

Worth a try?
-Taking a few sips of water (ideally, which is at the same temperature as the milk) in between the sips of strawberry milk.
-Adding ice cubes/crushed ice to a drink

Hope you find a way to prolong the strawberry milk drinking experience. It sounds wonderful!

I'm not a milk fan and never have been. I do like coconut milk instead. Try to get hooked on water instead maybe? I like to add food grade essential oils to my water like lemon, lime, or orange for extra flavor.
