Hi U5648031, there is a range of macronutrient intake that the Institute of Medicine recommends: 45-65% total calories. Choosing higher fiber, less processed carb sources is a better choice for most folks.

If you have prediabetes or Type 2 diabetes, then meal and snack carb goals are helpful (vs. total daily carb goals). Please take a look at my articles (accessible via Library row in apps or via these links on web):

Hi U5682470, I have requested breastfeeding and pregnancy option a number of times to Support but I think it requires extra programming since the calories setting would have to change to avoid going too low (and creating risk).

But you can still use MyNetDiary for breastfeeding by being aware that lactation burns calories and has increased nutrient needs. You can see your requirements via the interactive link: http://fnic.nal.usda.gov/fnic/interactiveDRI/

Gradual weight loss during breastfeeding is safe but you don't want to go too low in your calories or fluid intake. I typically recommend that women simply use the calories burned from breastfeeding to generate the calories deficit and not try to lose weight any faster.

According to the Institute of Medicine, breastfeeding (lactation)calories are:

Baby 0-6 months: 330 calories per day
Baby 7-12 months: 400 calories per day

You can add those calories to your daily exercise log by either adding a custom activity or simply using the generic calories item. It is fine to exercise too, but you account for the increased caloric need of breastfeeding by entering it as an activity.

Let me know if you need more help. To customize extended nutrients, you need Maximum subscription but the basic nutrients on food labels are included in the free membership.

I eat very healthy, mostly vegetarian and workout hard 1-2 hours a day, 6 days a week. I am just not seeing results as quickly as I had hoped (-2lbs/week. I am trying to lose 20 lbs... I am wondering if I am. It eating enough calories while breast feeding. Any ideas

Hi U5245550, stuck or weight plateau can be so frustrating! If you have been stuck for a couple of weeks at this point, then time to troubleshoot. Your calories intake might have error or your estimated calories needed for weight loss might be off, and your exercise calories might be off.

You might find these articles helpful:

Hi Kathy, I'm in Florida

Hi Dietician,
This isn't exactly a "diet" related question.

I've been noticing some ankle discomfort every time I'm doing "fast paced" cardio and jogging. I'm not sure if I should be worried since I do get relief by some stretching if I started to feel it. The thing is, when doing other exercises that are not fast paced, I don't really feel it, like when I'm doing squats or lunges. And when I'm not exercising, I don't really have them.

Should I worry or is is just a lack of stretching?

Hi U5390781, if you only experience discomfort when doing certain types of activities, then it could be that the activity is causing the pain.

I would try to find out if the pain is perhaps caused by incorrect form while performing the activity. Some running sneaker companies will do gait analysis as part of their customer service. Or you could work with a personal trainer to check body positioning while you do the exercise.

It could be the shoe, your foot movement within the shoe, your overall form, etc that is causing the pain under only certain conditions.

I wouldn't ignore it - I would try to find out what is going on. In the meantime, I would avoid the activity that is causing ankle pain.
