I burned 800 calories today but I didn't count calories at all I'm sure I ate at least 2100. it's that time of the month so I'm craving chocolate and carbs. is it bad? should I feel guilty?

Eat dark chocolate if you must. But you should be guilty. It is time to put your willpower on test.

Shape up for the rest of today and get a good night's sleep. Weigh yourself in the morning and start fresh. Every day is a brand new chance to do right, so look forward to it resolutely.

One bad day won't change anything. It's a lifestyle so just forgive yourself and re-commit. And way too go for burning 800 calories!!!

That comes out to a net +1300 calories so it might not be that far out of your DRI if at all. I wouldn't sweat it too hard but maybe try to just limit the number of times you endulge and try to enter the foods even if you feel bad about it. At least that way you can feel some accountability. Just a thought. Also, that 800 cal burn reduces the negative impact of going over on your diet goals.

Life is too short to feel guilty. You exercised well and had a slight slip so good and bad. It happens to everyone.

"Guilty" is relative to how committed you are to your goals. It all comes back to science.. Eating more calories than you burn (especially the wrong calories) will lead to disappointment in your results. That said, I agree it is a lifestyle and it isn't realistic to think we won't have our days that we cheat or slip a little bit. They key is, don't allow that voice in your head to justify it's okay too often. Eating is a habit like most other things and the more your habits form, the stronger they become.
