Sticking to diet while on vacation. Topic


Hi guys, been using this app for about 2 months and have been doing great. Lost about 8 pounds so far. Anyway... I'm spending the next 5 days in Key West and I need some tips on how not to sabotage all my hard work. My hotel doesn't have a gym and the people I'm with drink A LOT! I'm so scared of gaining it all back. I'm good when it comes to food, but the alcohol is a problem. Any advice?


I know red wine is technically the best choice (I hate red wine), but there's also other options that are better. I know Nerdfitness did and article on this called "A Nerd's Guide to Healthy Drinking." It has tips on alcohol, preferred drinks, and info in general.
There's also the option of not drinking or not drinking as much. Sip instead of taking big drinks. Get a lot of ice, so it's more water.

Try getting white wine spritzers (half sparkling water half white wine) or alternating every other hard liquor drink for a soda water and a twist. People usually don't notice. You can say it has vodka in it, if you feel you might be pressured. (A little white lie, but for your health?)

I travel sometimes and have the same problem about sticking to the diet. I find that as long as I really faithfully take notes of everything i consume, it helps me walk more to burn a little off- or just to skip the dessert :) (for me, I find that being overweight may have been an issue of just not being accountable for things I was eating. Denial!)


I know how you feel! One group of my friends drink lots! They won't let you off without having a drink. So I take hold of the kitty money and go to the bar- I order a soda water in a small glass with ice and a slice of lime- looks just like a G & T! So although others will go to the a bar a few times during the night I have much less to drink.
Good luck with that, it's not easy, but nobody's found me out yet.
