Target Daily Food Calories

Target calories is MyNetDiary's calculation of the number of calories you should eat daily to meet your weight targets.

Target Daily Calories = Weight Maintenance Calories - Weekly Weight Loss Rate in Lb * 500 + Average Daily Exercise Calories

To lose a pound of fat, you need to lose over time 3,500 calories compared to your weight maintenance calories. If the desired weekly weight loss rate is one pound, the daily calories should be reduced by 500 (calculated as 3,500 divided by 7 days)

Please note that MyNetDiary calculates weekly weight loss rates up to 2 lbs, as the math available does not work for faster weight loss rates. If you have a doctor's recommendation, you can override this using "customized" calorie target in the bottom section of the screen.
