1 tbsp Chili powder
...
1/4 tsp Garlic powder
...
1/2 tbsp Cumin seed ground or whole
...
1 tsp Pepper black
...
1/2 tsp Onion powder

...
1/2 tsp Salt
...
16oz Turkey ground 93% lean 7% fat raw
...
1 cup shredded Lettuce green leaf raw
...
1 cup, chopped or sliced Tomatoes red raw

6 steps

  • Preheat oven to 350F.
  • Place four 6-inch corn tortillas on an oven rack and bake for about 8-10 minutes. They are crisp when ready.
  • While corn tortillas are baking, mix spices together and set aside. This is your taco seasoning.
  • Place ground turkey in nonstick skillet and cook, covered, over medium heat for about 10 minutes or until browned.
  • Add 1/3 cup water and taco seasoning to turkey and cook another 2 minutes.
  • Divide seasoned turkey evenly between the 4 baked tostadas, then top with 1/4 cup each of chopped lettuce and tomato.

Tips:
You can mix together a larger batch of taco seasoning and place in a sealed container so it is ready to use for another meal. Use about 3 Tbsp per 1 pound poultry or meat.

You can save time by buying packaged corn tostadas but they will typically be higher in calories and sodium, depending upon brand.
