First post: Two kids, breastfeeding & vegetarian Topic

I have not weighed myself in months. I was not at an ideal weight when I became pregnant this last time and now literally feel like a blob. I need to get back on track and lose baby + pre-baby weight! I’m also concerned as diabetes runs in my family. I want to live a long healthy life. I’m not sure how active these forums are, the app I used during my last weight loss journey closed down.

Anyone in a similar boat?

Yikes! So I just weighed myself... eek. A lot worse than I thought.

Greetings Amy#130- Welcome to MND! Glad you found us.
I am one of the team Dietitians. We are happy to answer any questions you have about nutrition or weight loss.

Let me make sure I understand your situation- You had a baby (congrats!) and are wanting to lose some of the baby weight. How long ago did you have a baby?
Are you breast feeding? Do you have any other kids? Do you eat regular meals? Have you ever been diagnosed with prediabetes? It can certainly take awhile for our bodies to recover from having a baby!

As for getting started- I'd suggest making a commitment to track all of your food and drink intake for 2 straight weeks. By completing the registration questions you should have a daily calorie budget to work with. Here is some info on macro targets: https://www.mynetdiary.com/planning-nutrient-targets.html We suggest to avoid skipping meals, even if you are busy. How can you not be busy? Strive to eat 3 balanced meals a day.
Here is a link to some info on what constitutes a balanced meal: https://www.choosemyplate.gov/
I really like this article that Kathy wrote a while back (our founding Dietitian) on getting started with weight loss. https://www.mynetdiary.com/getting-started-with-weight-loss-in-the-new-year.html
Hope this helps! You've got this!! Our little ones are so worth us spending time on our health:) Best, Joanna (MND Dietician)
