Starting weight loss journey Topic

I’m really struggling to get my head in the game when it comes to starting and staying on track with my weight loss journey. It feels like my head is stuck in a perpetual ‘I know I can do it (I’ve done it - and smashed it - before), I’ll start one day...’
I need to lose at least 15kgs. I just don’t know how to get my head (and heart) into the game and back on track. Any suggestions?

I have no advice but I’m in the same boat!! I’ve been struggling for about 3 months. I am determined. I meal prepped breakfast for the week. Trying to take baby steps and I hope this helps me. Good luck with your journey!!

Today is day 1. How did I get here?

I’m the same way. I know I need to lose but having trouble getting motivated :(

Greetings Cazzooy-
Getting motivated and staying motivated is a common concern when it comes to weight loss. I love this quote: "The key to staying motivated to lose weight is similar to the amount of fuel in a car—you don't need the motivation tank to be full to drive, you just need to prevent it from running empty," says Joshua C. Klapow, Ph.D.
Funny thing is, when we want to get back on track we believe our tank needs to be topped off, or else we can’t get going. Small steps to motivate will go a long way. Such as the tip by Mejia about prepping breakfast for the week. Once small change in the right direction can add enough fuel to the tank to get you to the next place where you can add in another small change. You might consider stepping back and taking a 30,000 foot view of your weight loss goals. Why do you want to lose weight? What would your life look like and feel like in 6 months if you did not lose the weight? These are big questions that can illuminate how important weight loss is in your life at this time. Here are a few articles on motivation from our blog. Know that you have what it takes to get back on track and will get started and keep going when it is the right time for YOU! Focus on your health and the worst-case scenario if you don’t change your habits. I just turned 45 and have a 21-month-old to raise. I’d like to be around long enough to do so. I know there are no guarantees in life, but I’m not gonna be the one responsible for killing myself with food and bad habits. A high school friend who was always overweight and at times obese just dropped dead on Friday at age 46. That’s motivation. But at the end of the day, you can’t rely on a constant sense of motivation. Your focus has to be on changing bad habits and knowing your personal WHY for wanting to lose weight etc.

Thank you Simplycidalia for sharing. Our little ones sure are motivating! Best- Joanna
