I am really enjoying my new gym! The classes are great with motivating instructors and have met so many nice people there! Also, have so much fun bicycling with my hubby in the evening. Have spotted a lot of dolphins and one day saw thousands of stingrays in the water while cycling.

Are there recipes? Groups that are actually still active? Any current success stories?

Does anyone know of a gym that also work with people with limited mobility, fibromyalgia, severe arthritis, and/or sciatic pain from spinal stenosis?

Hi Carole27- Sorry for the delay in getting back with you. We (the Dietitians at MND) have found a lot of people are using our facebook page as a way to keep in touch. You might check it out as a way to connect with folks. As for recipes: I like the these resources:
yummly.com, eatingwell.com, cookinglight.com
I recently found this yummy meatball recipe that I altered: https://www.mynetdiary.com/a-holiday-appetizer-that-won-t-blow-your-carb-budget.html
Kathy wrote a post about a comfort meal that wont blow the calorie budget: https://www.mynetdiary.com/sweet-potato-ground-turkey-skillet-a-comfort-food-that-is-weight-friendly.html
Let me know if you have any other questions or thoughts. Best! Joanna (Dietician)

Hi Jpmerde- I think it really depends on where you live. I live in CO and have found the local rec centers to be great resources. I have also found that in general physical therapists are great resources when finding the best gym for an individual based on their health needs. Where are you located?
Best, Joanna (Dietician)

Hello Jpmerde,
I just thought of another option to supplement or replace gyms in community. I do not know exactly what your physical capabilities are, I thought you might find some of these links helpful.

I have found a lot of seated exercise videos on YouTube. Here is a link with a bunch of them. (I would get personalized advise from a physical therapist about safe exercise for you.)

Another program, developed by a nurse, that is quite popular, is Sit and Be Fit. Here is a link to that program.

Thought these might be of interest to you!

Keep moving! Brenda (Dietitian)
