Weight loss buddy Topic

I would like to have weight loss accountability as well. I need to lose 15-20 pounds and have been trying for over 2 years. Whenever I start on a diet I can do well for a few days, and then just give up and lose all self-control. It's discouraging. Right now my goal is to lose 15 pounds by November 8 by losing 1 pound a week.
I would be willing to help be a buddy for someone else as well.

Hi Folks, I think it is great to have a buddy system. You might find it easier to login to the web and explore Community. You can join groups, make teams, or just friend each other. Here's some basic info about that: https://www.mynetdiary.com/helpCommunity.html

Hello

Losing a substantial amount of weight is tough! You almost need a accountability partner who is not affraid to slap you lol. I went from 300# to 165# about 10 years ago and it was not easy! You have to be willing to completely change your lifestyle including going to the gym having self discipline to tell yourself no and go with no excuses. The biggest reason why this is true is because maintenance is harder than the weight loss. What i have learned is to be patient watch the scale daily to see which foods/quantities ect work best self adjust macros what works good for others most likely won't work for you. Like keto, it's not for everyone. It's because of fat that im fat lol. Although there is some good info out there for it.....

Wow, congrats on that weight loss (and keeping it off), HaulinMilk! Great advice for losing and keeping off the weight!

Hi all, I was recently diagnosed with diabetes, when I was tested for my A1c in July it was at 8.5, super bad, and I am in my thirties so it was a shock, I had tried to eat right before and had this app from years ago, so for the last 3 plus months I have been on here logging daily and at my 3 month follow up my doctor was very impressed with my progress. I went down to a 5.5 A1c which is normal range and he even took me off the metformin he had put me on in July. Weight wise I also lost 30 pounds but having a hard time losing any more I have another 35 pounds to go to get to my ideal weight. Would also like a buddy here to motivate. I don’t know how that works though. Thanks.

Greetings Babie4ka- Welcome to MND! Glad you found us.
Congrats on your weight loss and dramatic improvement in your blood sugar. You must be so happy! What a testament to your hard work and focus over the last few months!
There are a couple of ways to connect with others who are looking to create a healthy lifestyle, keep blood sugar under control and motivate each other.
You can join one of the forum groups. For example you might want to join the 30-somethings or the group called Living with Diabetes. https://www.mynetdiary.com/groupsAndTeams.do
There is also an option to invite a friend to join MND https://www.mynetdiary.com/friendRequest.do
We also have a strong following on Facebook and Instagram. That's another way to connect with people who are motivating each other to continue losing and maintain a healthy lifestyle.
Let us know if any nutrition or weight loss questions arise for you, we (the MND Dietitians) are happy to help. I am so curious, what are the major changes you made to lower your HgA1c? Thanks a ton and again congrats on your successes! Joanna (MND Dietician)
