Back to resistance training and walking and not losing weight Topic

Hi I have recently started back 3 times a week at Kieser resistance training and walking every night and I started dieting a week ago and the scales haven’t budged. This has never happened to me before. Normally when I eat well and no alcohol it drops off. Help!

Hi Jessicahamilton,

Thank you for reaching out! May I ask you a few questions to get more information and also attempt to help you sort through your situation?

How long are you doing resistance and walking? Are you walking at a brisk pace? Studies have shown that most people need to exercise for at least 60 min per day to lose weight. You say you started back exercising. Do you remember how your current exercise compares to previously when you were losing?

What does "dieting" mean? Are you tracking your calories and exercise? Has that worked for you in past? Are you being accurate with logging?

Please give me a little more detail so I can better help you.

You can do this! Brenda (Dietitian)

If you don't mind me jumping in, I am going through the same thing!

Real Appeal Cardio, Strength, Core and brisk walking. calorie average 1600 per day not losing any weight. But I am losing inches. Avg activity time is about 30 minutes per day.

Hi Folks, it can be so frustrating when we don't lose weight despite meeting the caloric target set up. Sometimes, the scale doesn't budget but the inches go down - that is still an important change that is positively affecting your health. Try to be patient, weigh yourself first thing in the morning before eating/drinking, and track accurately (weigh/measure your foods, log everything daily, and search to log the most accurate food item).

If you don't lose weight and it has been a couple of weeks, then there is likely error in the calories estimate for weight loss and/or error in how you are logging exercise, food, overall activity level, etc.

Note that we cannot see your data (e.g. food log) unless you go into your Settings and allow access to view.

If you would like me to look at your food record and data, send me a friend invitation via MyNetDiary's web app to kisacks@mynetdiary.com

Under "Sharing Diary Options," choose the 3rd option, "Send invitation to become friends and share my diary (e.g. I want to share my diary with my dietitian or coach.)"

Once you do this, I can view your data and give you feedback. Let me know when you do this.
