Calorie Budget is different to My Fitness Pal Topic

Hey so I've been using My Fitness Pal and then I found My Net Diary and have been using them both for the past few days.

Despite having the exact same weight, height, weight loss per week, fitness activity level, date of birth, and all other settings configured exactly the same on both websites, my daily calorie budget is drastically different on both websites/apps.

My Fitness Pal has a daily budget of 1598 calories calculated for me, and My Net Diary has a budget of 2290.

This is a difference of roughly 700 calories!

I would really appreciate some help to figure on what is causing this, and how I can get it rectified.

I'm happy to send screenshots of my settings on both if you would like.

Thank you!

Hello Grand,

Our apologies,

We are not aware of how other companies calculate calories. Different companies may use different methods.

MyNetDiary uses the official formulas for Estimated Energy Requirements provided by the Food and Nutrition Board of the Institute of Medicine of the National Academies

Hello Grand- I thought I would chime in here. I am one of the MND Dietitians. I can relate. I would be perplexed as well! Besides using different calculations to determine the best calorie budget for you there are some other nuances that play into the calorie estimate and each app is different. As you know, what matters most is that you are feeling good, meeting your goals and finding the process of tracking helpful.
So- double check and make sure you entered the same goals into each app.
Also, another thing that can totally impact your calorie budget is calories burned via exercise.
We advise that members go into the MND settings and turn off the "add exercise to calorie budget." That way, if you are tracking your exercise AND food on the app you won't be eating back the calories you burned from your exercise. Let us know if any other questions coming up for you. We are happy to help! Cheers to regaining health~ Joanna (MND Dietician)
