What’s a good low calorie source of protein for a vegetarian? I do eat fish but it’s not ideal to eat every day. Some of the plant based seem to be so high in calories and carbs, like beans for example.

Here are some of my favorite lacto-ovo vegetarian foods:
Plain yogurt, tofu, tempeh, eggs, low fat cheese, hummus, and soymilk.
Also oats, certain breads, quinoa, crackers, tortillas all have some protein. BTW: I consider beans to be one of the healthiest foods out there. Yes they contain a mix of protein and carbs and dietary fiber. Though these are all important if you are following a well rounded healthy diet.
