MyNetDiary and Oura – integrate your diet and exercise
MyNetDiary online and mobile diet program helps you lose weight by tracking your food calories with the best nutrition database in the world. MyNetDiary can also keep track and estimate your activity calories based on activity type and duration.
Oura is a smart ring that tracks daily activity, sleep, readiness, and workouts. After you link your Oura account, MyNetDiary can download that data into your diary.
Using Oura with MyNetDiary helps to calculate daily calorie balance more accurately, see the actual balance of the calories you burn and eat during the day, and ultimately helps you lose weight faster and smarter!
How does Oura linking work?
MyNetDiary can download from Oura:
- Daily steps, distance, and active minutes
- Total calories burned, activity calories, and basal calories
- Hours of sleep, including deep, light, REM (rapid eye movement), and awake time
- Resting heart rate, pulse (heart rate samples), heart rate variability, and respiratory rate
- Readiness score
- Blood oxygen (SpO2) and maximum oxygen uptake (VO2 max)
- Body weight
- Individual workouts
The specific information available depends on the Oura Ring you use and the permissions you grant.
Oura data is transferred one-way only, from Oura to MyNetDiary. By creating a link, you authorize MyNetDiary to read your Oura data and write it under your MyNetDiary account. MyNetDiary does not send food or diary data to Oura.
You can choose which data is downloaded from Oura on the Oura Settings page.

What happens after I link?
After you link to Oura, MyNetDiary downloads recent Oura data and then keeps it up to date. When your ring syncs to Oura, MyNetDiary receives a notification within several minutes and downloads the new data. If you want to download today's data immediately, go to Settings / Apps and Devices / Oura Settings and click Verify link.
If you do not log foods in MyNetDiary for 10 contiguous days, MyNetDiary stops downloading your Oura data. When you resume logging foods, MyNetDiary resumes Oura downloads.
Oura Active Calories vs. total calories
Oura download creates an Oura Active Calories entry at MyNetDiary Exercise, which is different from the daily total calories you see in the Oura app. MyNetDiary exercise includes only the calories burned in addition to normal lifestyle determined by your personal activity level. This is why MyNetDiary subtracts Weight Maintenance Calories from the downloaded total calories:
Oura Active Calories = Total calories burned − Weight Maintenance Calories
We recommend setting MyNetDiary Activity Level to Sedentary, because Oura Active Calories includes only calories above your activity level, so the Sedentary level in MyNetDiary gives you the most exercise calories.
If Total calories from Oura are smaller than Weight Maintenance Calories, MyNetDiary creates an Oura Active Calories exercise with zero calories.
Sleep, heart, and readiness
MyNetDiary downloads hours of sleep (total, deep, light, REM, and awake) from Oura sleep sessions, plus resting heart rate, pulse from the Oura heart rate collection, heart rate variability, and respiratory rate. Readiness, blood oxygen, and maximum oxygen uptake are downloaded from the matching Oura daily summaries. Body weight is downloaded from your Oura profile for today only. To see the downloaded measurements in MyNetDiary, go to MyNetDiary Daily Details and click “Select Measurements to Track”.
