AI Coach - Premium Plus feature

AI Coach is MyNetDiary's Premium Plus chat assistant. Open it from the Dashboard's Ask AI Coach button, Diet Tools, or the Me tab's Ask AI button. Tap a suggestion, type your question or use the microphone. It can make mistakes, so use it as guidance rather than medical advice.

AI Coach is MyNetDiary’s in-app chat assistant available within the Premium Plus tier. It can answer nutrition, weight-loss, tracking, and app-use questions. It can also review your recent MyNetDiary entries and suggest practical next steps. For the best experience 1) log your food and other trackers regularly; 2) ask clear, specific questions; 3) follow the links suggested by the coach.

AI Coach can make mistakes. Use it as helpful guidance, not as medical advice. For health conditions, eating disorders, pregnancy, medications, or major diet changes, please check with a qualified healthcare professional.

Where do I find the AI Coach?

You can open AI Coach from several places in the app:

From the Dashboard

Scroll down on the Dashboard tab to find the AI Coach card. From here you can:

  • Tap inside the AI Coach field or the Ask AI Coach button to open the chatbot.
  • Tap My Analysis to open today's day review.
  • Tap the three dots (•••) button to open the AI Settings link, where you can turn the app's AI features on or off.

From the Diet Tools tab

Open the Diet Tools tab and choose AI Coach from the Analysis & Insights list, or tap the Ask AI button in the top right corner of the screen.

From the Me tab

You can also open the chatbot from the Me tab using the Ask AI button in the top right corner.

How do I start a conversation?

The first time you open the AI Coach, you will see a friendly greeting along with picture suggestions showing how the coach can help, such as Analysis (Review Day) or sample questions like "What are exercise snacks, and what are the benefits?" Tap any suggestion to begin, or use the input field at the bottom of the screen to ask your own question.

At the bottom of the chat screen you have three ways to interact:

  • Text field: Type your question where it says "Write your question."
  • Microphone button: Tap it to speak to the coach by voice instead of typing.
  • Plus (+) button: Tap it to open a menu of extra options (see below).

What does the plus (+) button do?

Tapping the + button opens a short menu with three choices:

  • AI Topics: A collection of suggestions and example prompts that show what you can use the coach for.
  • AI Suggest Meals: A separate feature that recommends meals for you. (Described in detail in its own article.)
  • AI Restaurant Menu Scan: A separate feature that helps you decide what to order from a restaurant menu. (Described in detail in its own article.)

What can I ask the AI Coach?

You can ask the coach almost anything related to your diet, health, and use of the app. Common topics include:

Topic Example questions
Weight Loss What is the best diet for weight loss? How do I create a calorie deficit?
Nutrition What foods are the best sources of protein? What are the healthy fats?
Meal Planning Create a 3-day high-protein plan. How do I generate a shopping list?
Recipes & Cooking How do I make a protein smoothie? List some one-pot meal ideas.
Exercise What are some exercises I can do at home? When is the best time to exercise?
Tracking How can I estimate food portions? Should I log cooked or raw food?
Motivation How do I stay motivated? How do I deal with food cravings?
App Help Where do I adjust my nutrient targets? Can I change my calorie budget?

The coach's replies often contain green (iOS) or blue (Android) links. These are shortcuts that take you directly to a related help article or to the right area of the app.

For example, if the coach mentions logging your food, tapping the green/blue "log your food" link opens your Meals screen. Links may point to screens such as:

  • Log food
  • Log exercise
  • Track water
  • Track daily steps
  • Track weight
  • Track health data
  • Record daily notes or day events
  • Edit your diet plan
  • Use AutoPilot
  • Plan meals
  • Open meal suggestions
  • Review daily analysis
  • Analyze diet trends
  • Open the shopping list
  • Open app settings
  • Contact support

This lets you act on the coach's advice with a single tap.

What is "My Analysis" / Review Day?

Tapping My Analysis on the Dashboard opens a personalized review of your current day. The coach looks at what you have logged and tells you how you are doing against your goal, for example whether you are on target, near target, or over your calorie budget, along with tailored tips.

What information does the AI Coach use?

The coach personalizes its answers using the information you have entered in the app, such as your goal, diet plan, food logs, and weigh-ins. Please note that the coach analyzes only your last 7 days of logged data. Older entries are not included in its analysis, so logging consistently gives you the most accurate and helpful advice.

Are my chats saved?

Yes. Your conversations with the AI Coach are stored for 30 days, so you can return to a recent chat. After 30 days, older messages are removed.

Is there a usage limit?

AI features are not unlimited, but most users will not reach the cap during normal use. To keep the feature sustainable, there is a combined monthly allowance shared across all AI features, such as AI chat, meal scanning, and others. If you do reach the limit, the app will let you know, and your allowance resets at the start of the next month.

How do I turn AI features off?

If you prefer not to use the AI features, you can disable them:

  1. Go to the Dashboard and find the AI Coach card.
  2. Tap the three dots (•••) button.
  3. Open the AI Settings link.
  4. Turn off the app's AI features from there.

You can also disable them from the App Settings - AI Settings.

Why did AI Coach give me a general/incorrect/unhelpful answer?

AI Coach may give a general answer when:

  • You have not logged enough recent data.
  • Your recent logs are incomplete.
  • Your question does not need personal data.
  • The information needed is older than the last 7 days.
  • You asked a broad question, such as “What is healthy eating?”

To get a more personalized answer, ask a specific question and include details. For example, instead of asking “What should I eat?”, ask “What should I eat for dinner if I have 600 calories left?”

A note on accuracy

The AI Coach is a helpful assistant, but it is not a substitute for professional medical or nutritional advice. As the app reminds you, AI Coach can make mistakes. Always use your own judgment and consult a qualified professional for important health decisions.
