- 4 Minute Read
If you have a set macronutrient breakdown you need to achieve each day, MyNetDiary is the best macro tracker for the job! Learn the ins and outs of easily and accurately tracking every gram of carbohydrate, protein, and fat you consume.
So you've decided to start tracking your macros — great choice! But if you've ever tried to manage your macronutrient intake with a spreadsheet, a notebook, or sheer willpower, you already know that the math gets old fast. That's where MyNetDiary Premium comes in.
Whether you're following a structured macronutrient diet plan, experimenting with carb-cycling, or simply trying to get a clearer picture of what's actually on your plate, MyNetDiary takes the guesswork — and the grunt work — out of the equation, which is essential for an effective tracker. With one of the largest food databases available, precise tracking tools, and a straightforward dashboard you can grasp at a glance, it's designed to make hitting your macro targets feel less like a chore and more like second nature.
Here's everything you need to know to get the most out of MyNetDiary's macro-tracking features.
Not sure how to calculate macros? The Institute of Medicine's DRI (Daily Reference Intake) for macronutrients provides guidance on a healthy distribution range for macronutrients (see table below).
| Macronutrient | DRI: Acceptable Macronutrient Distribution Ranges | MyNetDiary default |
|---|---|---|
| Carbohydrates | 45—65% of total calories | 45% of total calories |
| Protein | 10—35% of total calories | 20% of total calories |
| Fat | 20-35% of total calories | 35% of total calories |
MyNetDiary’s defaults land comfortably within these ranges, which is a solid starting point for most people. If you follow an eating pattern that requires a different macronutrient distribution, you can customize your macronutrient targets with a Premium membership.
MyNetDiary Premium also lets you select from preset macro distributions for popular eating plans (low-carb, keto, low-fat, and more). Choose one of these dietary patterns under Diet Tools > My Diet.
You may have a specific target for grams of carbohydrates, fat, or protein. For example, suppose you’d like to set a “fixed” target of 120 grams of carbohydrates per day. MyNetDiary has you covered! Head to: My Weight Goal & Plan > Macros > Set Custom Macros > Switch to Grams to lock in specific gram targets that won’t shift when your daily calorie budget changes. You can even fix two macro targets (e.g., protein and fat), which allows the third macronutrient (carbohydrates in this example) to flex and fill the gaps.
Variety is the spice of life — and apparently, of dieting too. If you follow a carb-cycling plan or simply want different macro targets on different days of the week, the Macro Cycling feature lets you set custom targets for each day. Find it under "Cycling" in My Weight Goal & Plan on the dashboard.
If you add exercise calories to your calorie budget, you may want a different macro distribution for these additional calories than in your baseline plan. For example, you may choose a higher carbohydrate percentage. You can easily adjust the distribution of your exercise calorie macros under Exercise Plan.
Tracking your macros doesn't have to feel like doing your taxes. MyNetDiary makes it pretty painless:
