Adding exercise to calorie budget

Every time you exercise, you burn calories. Our app lets you choose how to account for those calories.

By default, you can choose to increase your daily Calorie Budget when you exercise, allowing you to eat more on those days. If this option is turned on, the system will add 50% of your exercise calories to that day's Calorie Budget. Since only half of the calories are added, you'll still maintain a calorie deficit and lose more weight — even if you consume your full Calorie Budget — because you're not “eating back” all of the exercise calories.

With subscription, you can fine-tune how exercise calories are handled. For example:

  • Adjust the percentage added to your Calorie Budget (from 10% to 100%).
  • Customize how extra calories are distributed across macros — e.g., allocate 20% to protein, 30% to fat, and 0% to carbs.

Alternatively, you can choose to keep your Calorie Budget fixed, so that all burned calories contribute to a greater calorie deficit and potentially more weight loss on that day.

To enable this setting:

  • Navigate to the Exercise tab in the My Weight Goal & Plan menu.
  • Tap the settings.
  • Locate “Add exercise to calorie budget” and turn it ON.
  • Note: If this setting appears ON and disabled, it means you’ve created a weekly exercise plan under the My Weight Goal & Plan section. This setting must remain ON in that case. To change it, first delete your weekly exercise plan, then revisit the My Weight Goal & Plan section to update your Calorie Budget if needed.
