How can I stop getting double workouts (duplicated exercises?)

Duplicated workouts appear when several trackers or apps record one workout. MyNetDiary or PlateAI shows exactly what Apple Health or Health Connect holds, so set Health to keep one preferred workout source and unlink the others. Duplicates also occur when a directly linked service, such as Fitbit, Garmin, or Withings, overlaps with one linked through Health.

If you track the same workout with multiple trackers, MyNetDiary or PlateAI may show it as multiple separate records. There are many possible variations of this issue.

For example, a cyclist may use the built-in Fitness App on an Apple Watch, Samsung Galaxy Watch, Pixel Watch, or another smartwatch, together with a Garmin device mounted on the bike. Both the watch’s Fitness App and Garmin Connect send data about the completed workout to the Apple Health app or Android Health Connect app. In this case, MyNetDiary or PlateAI will display two separate exercises if the workout appears as different records in Apple Health or Health Connect. To avoid this, make sure the Health app displays the workout data from only one source — either the Fitness App on the smartwatch or Garmin Connect. For instance, you can unlink Garmin Connect from Health so it no longer writes data there, leaving only the Fitness App record.

Another common situation is when users connect multiple third-party apps to Apple Health or Android Health Connect. If the same workout is tracked simultaneously by more than one tracker (activity bands, smartwatches, wearable devices, sensors, or apps), Health will record separate entries from each source. MyNetDiary or PlateAI must then read and display them exactly as provided by Health, which results in duplicates. To fix this, configure Health to keep only one preferred source for workouts and unlink all others. This way, there will be no duplicates in Health, and the app will read a single record.

Duplicated exercise records also happen when our customer tracks Duplicate records can also appear if a workout is tracked by both a service directly linked to us (such as Fitbit, Garmin, or Withings) and another service indirectly linked through Apple Health or Android Health Connect. In this case as well, the solution is to unlink one of the sources so that MyNetDiary or PlateAI will receive workout data from only a single provider.

If you need help resolving duplicated exercises, please email support@mynetdiary.com and attach screenshots of the data as shown by your source app. We will review how MyNetDiary or PlateAI is reading the data and suggest workarounds or possible solutions.
