Most modern Android phones can track steps using built-in sensors. To enable automatic step tracking, install a pedometer app such as Fitbit or Pacer.
These apps can collect step data from your phone or a paired smartwatch. Our app can then read your step data directly from Health Connect (if your tracker syncs through it).
If you use an app like Pacer or Fitbit, make sure it’s connected to Health Connect. Then, link the Android app to the same source in App & Devices > Health Connect.
No smartwatch is required—your phone alone is enough to track steps with the right app installed.
To convert steps into exercise and have them count toward your daily calorie balance, you can enable the Step Bonus feature in the app settings (Disclaimer: using this functionality requires a subscription.)
