When using Advanced AutoPilot feature, you may wonder whether to enable the "Add Exercise to Calorie Budget" option. This guide will help you understand how these features interact and provide you with the information needed to decide what's best for you.
How Adding Exercise affects Advanced AutoPilot?
- Enabling "Add Exercise to Calorie Budget" means that your daily calorie budget will adjust based on the exercise you log. This can provide a more flexible allowance on active days, as the calories burned from exercise will increase your daily calorie target.
- Important Note: Only log exercises that go beyond your typical daily activities. Routine activities like walking, standing, or work-related movements are already accounted for in your PA (Physical Activity) coefficient, which is part of your overall daily energy expenditure. Logging both routine activities and extra exercises could lead to double-counting your calorie burn, affecting your progress.
Should You Enable It? Here are two ways to approach it:
- Enable the Feature: This option allows more flexibility, especially if you do exercises that vary greatly day-to-day.
- Disable the Feature: This option is more straightforward if you prefer a consistent calorie budget and want to avoid any chance of double-counting.
Experiment to find what works for You:
- Try enabling the feature for one week and monitor your progress.
- Then, disable the feature for another week and compare your results.
- Use My Diet Trends and the Weight screen in the app to see which approach aligns better with your goals and provides consistent progress.
Recommendation: Generally, we recommend leaving the option off to avoid the risk of double-counting. However, conducting the experiment will give you the best indication of what works for you.
