Understanding Popular vs. Common Nutrients

The app tracks over 100 nutrients and separates them into Popular and Common. Popular nutrients, such as calories, protein, carbohydrates, fats, fiber, sugar, vitamins and minerals, appear in food logs, the Dashboard, meal screens and day reports. Common nutrients, such as amino acids or omega-3s, are not shown by default, but you can select them for tracking.

Our diet service allows tracking over 100 nutrients to help you stay informed about your diet and health. However, not all nutrients are displayed equally across the app. To make tracking more convenient, we differentiate between Popular and Common nutrients. Here's what you need to know about the two...

What are Popular Nutrients? Popular nutrients are the nutrients most commonly tracked and monitored by users. These are the key components of a healthy diet and are often of primary interest when setting goals or analyzing your nutrition. Popular nutrients are easily accessible in various parts of the app, including:

  • Food logs
  • Dashboard
  • Meal screens
  • Day reports

Popular nutrients typically include:

  • Calories
  • Protein
  • Carbohydrates
  • Fats (Total, Saturated, and Unsaturated)
  • Fiber
  • Sugar
  • Vitamins (A, C, D, etc.)
  • Minerals (Iron, Calcium, etc.)

What are Common Nutrients? Common nutrients include all nutrients available in our extensive database. While important, these nutrients may not be as frequently tracked by most users and are generally not displayed by default in the dashboard or daily reports. However, you can still choose to track and monitor these nutrients if they are relevant to your goals.

Examples of Common nutrients include:

  • Various amino acids (e.g., lysine, leucine)
  • Omega-3s and Omega-6s
  • Rare vitamins and minerals
  • Specific types of fats (e.g., trans fats, polyunsaturated fats)

Customizing Your Nutrient Tracking: If you'd like to track a nutrient that isn't displayed by default, you can customize the nutrients shown on your dashboard or in your food logs by selecting it for tracking. Navigate to your Plan or App Settings, select nutrient to track (choose which nutrients you want to focus on, whether to display it in the meals sections or/and Dashboard.) Your selected nutrients will now be featured more prominently in your food log, Dashboard, analysis and reports.

Why the Distinction? By differentiating between Popular and Common nutrients, we ensure you can focus on the most relevant information while also offering flexibility to track a broader range of nutrients if needed. This balance makes it easy for new users to get started while allowing more advanced users to dive deeper into their nutrition data.
