Family Sharing of Subscriptions
For now, sharing your subscription is only available for iOS users. Apple App Store supports family sharing of in-app purchases. The third-party subscriptions are shareable now in the same way as Apple Music, Apple TV, and Apple News. Please see Apple's support article What types of content can I share with my family using purchase sharing?
Note: Apple Family Sharing is available only for the standard recurring monthly or annual MyNetDiary Premium subscription purchased through Apple. Lifetime Premium, Premium Plus, and PlateAI subscriptions are not supported by Apple Family Sharing.
Setting Up Family Sharing
1. Set up Family Sharing in iCloud. Once enabled, your iOS subscription purchased through the app will be available to other family members.
2. Make sure subscription sharing is enabled in your iPhone’s Settings app under iCloud > Subscriptions. If sharing is turned off, tap to turn it on so your family members can access it.
3. Next, make sure that your family member(-s) can see the subscription in their iCloud subscriptions list (also displayed by the App Store app.) If they don't see the subscription, please verify that both phones are upgraded to iOS 14.3 or later and all the steps above.
4. After that, they can install our app, go to the "Upgrade" ("Renew" or "Subscribe" screen), and tap Restore Subscription at the bottom of the screen. This should apply to the purchased subscription and upgrade their app.
Note: Make sure both family members have the same type of app installed—either MyNetDiary, Calorie Counter Pro by MyNetDiary, Carb Genius, or the Diabetes app. Subscriptions are app-specific and can only be shared if the same app type is installed on both devices. For example, if the subscription was purchased in Calorie Counter Pro, it cannot be restored in Diabetes Tracker. In this case, the second device must also have Calorie Counter Pro installed.
Discounted Memberships
Please note that you can purchase discounted gift cards for your family members, co-workers, or friends on our website and apply them to your existing accounts.
Sharing between iOS and Android
Family sharing of a subscription between Android and iOS devices is not possible due to platform restrictions. Each platform has its own app store and subscription management system, making cross-platform sharing infeasible.
Using premium plans on another device
While you cannot share Lifetime Premium, Premium Plus, and PlateAI with other people, you can absolutely use it on all of your own devices.
To access the plans on your iPad or secondary phone:
- Download the MyNetDiary or PlateAI app on the second device.
- Log in using the same email address and password you used to purchase the Lifetime membership.
- The app will recognize your account status and automatically unlock the features.
In this case, you must buy two different subscriptions.
