Save time with custom recipes and "my meals"

Create a recipe when you cook the foods together and eat a portion, because it logs as a single entry. Create a My Meal when you simply eat several foods together and want each listed separately, so you can adjust the amounts. Build either from ingredients in My Foods, or convert a meal you logged.

Suppose you often eat the same foods together. In that case, you can simplify food logging and save time by creating either a custom recipe or a "My Meal."

Recipe

If you consider these foods being ingredients in a recipe, if you cook it or make it and then eat a portion of it (although you can eat the whole), you create a recipe in MyNetDiary and PlateAI. Once created, you can log this new food into your breakfast or dinner, and only one record for this recipe will be added to breakfast or dinner.

My Meal

If you don't cook but simply eat several foods together (for example, strawberries, a bagel, and coffee) and you want to see them logged separately, then you can create "My Meal" with them. Once created, you can select this "my meal" in food search or add from My Meals and all of its foods will be added to your breakfast or dinner separately. Then, if needed, you can adjust the amounts of each food.

Creating a Recipe or My Meal

There are many ways to create a recipe or "my meal." You can build them from ingredients in My Foods. You can convert your breakfast or lunch into a recipe or "my meal". In MyNetDiary and PlateAI, you can import a recipe from a website or another app. You can import a recipe from the 370,000+ food database. You can copy and customize (if you want to!) some of Premium Recipes.

Should I create a recipe or a My Meal?

Create a recipe when the foods are ingredients you cook or combine and then eat as a portion. Create a My Meal when you regularly eat several separate foods together and want each food to remain a separate diary entry.

How are recipes and My Meals logged differently?

A recipe is logged as one recipe record in breakfast, lunch, or dinner. Logging a My Meal adds all of its foods separately, which lets you adjust the amount of each individual food after adding the meal.
