Logging Food
There are six ways to log food in MyNetDiary: search the staff-verified database, scan a barcode, photograph the meal with Meal Scan, speak the entry, reuse a saved recipe or meal, or copy a past day. Search is fastest for most foods; the barcode scanner is fastest for packaged items. Every method writes the same nutrition data, with up to 108 nutrients per entry.

Common questions about Logging Food
How long does it take to log a meal in MyNetDiary?
Most foods take three taps: search, pick the food, confirm the serving. Foods you eat often are one tap from Favorites, Staples, Meals, or Recent. In a January 2026 test in which the same 127 food entries were logged in each app, MyNetDiary took 711 actions, fewer than every other tracker measured.
Do I need a subscription to log food?
No. Food search, barcode scanning, voice logging, recipes, custom foods, and full macro and nutrient tracking are in the free tier, with no ads and no account required to start. Meal Scan, AI Restaurant Menu Scan, and recipe import are Premium or Premium Plus features.
Where does the nutrition data in MyNetDiary come from?
From a staff-verified food database of more than 2 million foods built on the USDA and NCC research-grade sources, with 2,500 to 3,500 foods reviewed and updated daily. Each entry can carry up to 108 nutrients, so vitamins, minerals, omega fatty acids, and amino acids are tracked alongside calories and macros.
Can I log food without an internet connection?
Yes. MyNetDiary logs food offline and syncs when the connection returns. Foods you have logged before and your saved recipes, meals, and custom foods are available offline; a full database search and barcode lookups for new items need a connection.
